China’s power system already has a large capacity, load large, high voltage, transmission distance and so on, so that the short-circuit impedance smaller, resulting in the fault current transmission line short-circuit current when will be growing. With the development of the grid, resulting grid now use the circuit breaker has been unable or will not be able to disconnect the line, which will have a significant adverse effect on the operation of the grid, so the study of short circuit current level of suppression methods on become an important issue.In this paper, an in-depth understanding of the magnetic valve reactor and bridge type superconducting fault current limiter based on the proposed new magnetic valve bridge superconducting current limiter. In this paper, respectively, the magnetic valve reactor and bridge SFCL simulation to verify its role. New Magnetic valve bridge for superconducting fault current limiter of the proposed works and structures described and explained, according to a given area and so is the influence of the element on power system transient stability; according to the principles of transmission line distance protection, analysis the impact on the protection by the element, and use the PSCAD model of the building element, its impact on the simulation of the distance protection; according to transmission line current differential protection principle, the influence of the element on the line current differential protection produced and using PSCAD simulation.Analysis and simulation results show that the new magnetic valve bridge superconducting current limiter can improve transient stability of power system; the impact of new magnetic valve bridge superconducting current limiter to protect the power grid from the mounting position of the element are relationship, when the element is installed upstream of the protection device has no effect on the distance protection, when the element is mounted on the downstream protection device may cause the distance protection tripping; new magnetic valve bridge on SFCL no effect on transmission line differential protection circuit.
