With the development of vehicle industry, citizens possess more cars, and causing the rise of traffic jams and traffic accidents, as well as the car-stolen cases, and the crime action with cars. The Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) is created to solve the mentioned problems. Thanks to the rapid breakthrough of a series of technology like GPS,3G, and the GIS, vehicle terminal monitoring system(ITMS), as the key part of ITS, has practical significance and value. The system designed in this paper consists of mainly three parts, the vehicle terminal monitoring system, central server, and the supervision center. The first part realizes the control of CAN net within the car, and acquires and transmits the car-body information. The server centre is used to dealing with the received data. And some functions, like car-body information check, e-map and vehicle location in real-time, are realized by the third part. The practical significance and meaning on this subject are introduced by the paper. And the research on IMT home and abroad is analyzed. Later then, there is detailed introduction for the CAN and CAN open. A dynamic priority scheduling algorithm is applied in the IMT, promoting the real-time property. The following is to construct the hardware platform, including the design of CAN nodes and the GPS,3G. The whole software platform is designed based on Linux, including the realization of CAN open protocol, and related drivers. At last, based on the requirement of supervision system, paper designs the application program and local database using VC++and realizes the e-map and vehicle location functions. The IMT is tested and analyzed through PCI5121 communicates with upper computer in sixth chapter. After debugging, the nodes data realizes the smooth transmission, and proves the real-time property after the import of the dynamic priority scheduling algorithm.
