The courtyard, as the smallest unit of the architectural complex, is the main object of this study. Through the investigation of the prototype of courtyards and varieties of image performances, the paper tried to explore the creation logic of the art in Han Dynasty. In this study, three typical forms of the courtyard in the Art in Han dynasty are discussed. One is the courtyard with graphic, like the portrait of stones and bricks and murals. The second one is the three-dimensional pottery of the courtyard. The last one is the tombs which have double characteristics of the real space and image performance. All the three different forms in the image creation imitate the entity shape of the ruins and relics of courtyard. However, due to the differences on multiple factors, like the material, technical, spatial, concept and meaning, those three kinds of courtyard images showing the distinct visual features during the process from the buildings to the images. The graphic is better at creating the spatial illusion. The pottery focuses on the facade of the buildings. But for the design and construction of the tomb, more concepts and ideas are involved. The craftsmen just started to try to describe the space in the Han dynasty. Therefore, the specific expressions of the courtyard among different types, or even the similar types of the images, are not the same. During the adjustment between the vision and the daily experience, the form of Art in the Han dynasty has become diversified, complicated and vitality.
