FSI(Fluid-Structural interaction) and GSI(Granular-Solid interaction) are two boarderline subjects based on the intersections of fluid and structural,and the other one is granular and solid, which mainly make a research about stresses and deformations of solid domain under the actions of fluid or medium domain. FSI and GSI are very common in the engineering field. Tank truck, environment-friendly garbage compression vehicle which are driven on the highway are the typical representatives of the engineering application.Tank truck is one of the most common vehicles in the transportation industry, the stuffs which are transported by them vary from food industry to chemitry industry, finally to the oil industry. Therefore, the study about safety and economics of the structure of the tank truck is far-reaching significant.Garbage compression vehicle is popular for its high compression ratio and the function of the automatic loading and unloading, it not only improve the transporting capacity of garbage, but working conditions of the clearing workers. Garbage compression vehicle act as an important role in the construction of environment in city.With the continuous development of the computer technology, many complex practical engineering problems can be solved by the method of numerical simulation.Therefore, the stress and deformation status of the tank truck under the condition of emergency braking will be the first object of numerical simulation in the essay by using the theory of FSI, which can provide a reference for the designer, and perfect the evaluation specification of the designing load of the tank truck in the national standard. Secondly, the stress and deformation status of the garbage compression vehicle under the condition of practical working will be the second object of numerical analysis and experimental research in the essay by using the theories of FEA and experimental mechanics, which can provide a reference for its improvement and optimization in structure. The main content in the essay are divided into three parts:1. Make elaborations about FSI, VOF in the model of multiphase flow, the mechanical properties of the medium and relevant methods used in the experimental mechanics.2. Complete the creation of the tank truck model in Crco 2.0, then import the model into the Workbench to make some necessary simplifications, and after that, import the simplified model into the ICEM CFD to complete the modification of the model, creation and mesh of the fluid domain. When all of the preprocessors arc finished, import the model into the Fluent, at the same time, compile the UDF file which demonstrates the speed of the car under the condition of emergency braking, then calculate the simulation of the fluid sloshing in the tank in overall process. Then, find the location where there have maximum stress and the time3. when the maximum stress appear, import the relative case&data file into the Static Structural to make a one-way FSI analysis. Finally, compare the result with the yield strength of the material before assessing the structure’s safety performance under the condition of emergency braking.4. Make a FEA of garbage compression car and test the performance of the garbage compression car’s structure by using method of experimental mechanics, and all of that are based on the properties of medium mechanic. Get three sets of data from the test, those are data of static stress, dynamic stress and deformation with full loads. Analyze the data to make a conclude about the its status on working, then assess its safety performance of the structure.
