| In the local construction system of mid-Zhejiang region, there is an eaveslateral support system which is composed by arch bar, bracket, Qinfang,sparrow brace etc. The roof construction way is different from officialarchitectures of Chinese traditional wooden architectures. It is used anextraordinarily regional characteristics way (inclined strut) to solve theconstruction problem. And in the long developing process, this way graduallyformed a set of complete construction artistry and style. For instance, in manytypical cases of mid-Zhejiang region, the tightly combination betweencomponent shape and Dongyang Wood carving craft, not only made it asstructural components to fortify the whole structural strength of building, but alsoas the main object of architecture decoration. And it is also used as a way toreflect people’s pursuing to beautiful life and hope through carving manymeaningful stories and pictures as decorations. Based on above situation, thiseaves lateral support system is not a kind of simple architectural componentsbut a kind of artistic carving which is based on construction components. It is notonly showed constructions’ characteristics, but also got a new function that isexpressing specific meanings by images. So that is a product which is appearedwith special regional ideology and social cultural background.The research subject of this thesis is the eaves lateral support system.Firstly the thesis discussed its specific structure way. Then relativelyindependent pattern carving decoration system which is also coexisted withcomposition is extended to study. The thesis not only just pays attention onconstruction’s technical problems, but also cares about the possibility ofconstruction techniques’ potential representation. |
