The Guangsheng Temple is located on the summit of Huoshan Mountain which is 17 kilometers from the northeast of Hongtong County in Shanxi province. The temple was built in the first year of Jianhe (the name of the year for ancient China which was reigned by Hanhuan Emperor then). In the forth year of Dali (the name of the year for ancient China which was reigned by Tang Daizong Emperor then), Guo Ziyi who was the Fenyang King wrote the memorial to the throne for rebuilding it and changed the name of the temple into the Guangsheng Temple. There are three parts of the architectural complex of the GuangshengTemple, which are the Superior Temple, the Inferior Temple and the God of the Water Temple. After the rebuilding in past years, the existing buildings were almostreconstructed during the Yuan and Ming Dynasties. There is a exquisite Feihong Tower in the temple, which was mainly made of the brick and covered with the colored glaze. The Feihong Tower is octahedral and has thirteen eavesbecause its shape was influenced by the Buddhist ritual. The colored glaze decorated inside and outside the Feihong Tower was made during the peak period for the process of firing glaze in ancient China. The glazed decoration was well preserved and was regarded as the artistic peak for the process of firing glaze in China.
