| Given the background of population aging, social provision is replacing the home-based care for the aged and become predominate supporting model for the aged due to the soaring aging population, a transformation of providing for the aging, and national preferential policy, etc. However, the maintenance organizations lack the environmental projects based on emotional demands of the aged so that their emotional appeal cannot get satisfied in that the progress of the social institution of provision for the aged is out of the times.By analyzing the specificity of application of subject sentiment demand in the elderly maintenance agency, sentimental demand model for the old in maintenance agency was build based on Maslow’s Demand Theory. This model consists of three parts, safety needs, identity needs and social needs. The correlation between the public art in outer space of these agencies and the old people’s sentiment, it could be confirmed that the outer space public art is an important mean to satisfy the sentiment demand of elderly. The physiological and psychological characteristics of the elderly should be taken into consideration in the designment of public, in order to offer humanistic care to this people.In this paper, the characteristics of outer space public art was analyzed, and the design principles were obtained as well. Elderly maintenance agency outdoor space should be divided into five areas, fitness area, communication area, square, entertainment area and the natural area. The form of outer space public art in maintenance agency should be classic and the chosen as green, gray and white. Furthermore, the traditional Chinese culture should be taken into consideration in the process of designment and building.According to the design principles, the retrofit scheme of Shanghai Jinfu Ju nursing home was obtained in use of outdoor space public art. So that the elderly life was improved and the design principles in this paper was verified. |
