Today, the containment of aircraft engine's casing has become an important indicator to restrict and threaten the air safety. In order to ensure sufficient case containment and reducing its weight, the structure of casing has been gradually changed from metal-oriented hard-wall system into composite materials and metal combined soft-wall system. Thus, it is of great importance to research the containment of metal and composite casing.Through the investigation of impact test of TC4 and T300/BMP316 modeled casing, critical velocity has been found out, and the impairment and failure mode are analyzed as well. On that basis, with the help of ANSYS/LS-DYNA software, the reasonable computing model is established combining with the amendment and confirmation of experimental result. Through the analysis of impact velocity, impact angles, the thickness of casing and the ply stacking sequence of composite laminates, the evolution has been discovered. In addition, the method of critical velocity, the method of tolerance coefficient and the method of damage potential are investigated via the experimental results. A conclusion about the applicability of those three methods is drawn in the final part of this essay.The examination of the results of impact test, the computing model of numerical simulation, influencing factors of impact resistance and the applicability of assessment methods in this essay may have certain reference value in the design of the case containment.
