In present China, most of the hydropower construction projects are large ones. They always have higher dam, larger reservoir, larger flood flow and complicated geological conditions. As the result, heavier atomization will be produced by the process of flood discharging. This will largely affect the safety of downstream slope. Therefore, research about the aerosol effect for slope stability has important practical significance. This paper is mainly about Jinping I hydropower station. Through detailed analysis about the atomization condition of Jinping I hydropower station, the range and intensity of atomization-rain are estimated by using appropriate empirical formula.Based on detailed analysis on the geological conditions of IV-VI ridges, the three dimensional geological model of IV-VI ridges is established, which contains many important geological structures, like f 5, f 2, f 9, lamprophyre vein and released crack. And five detailed two-dimension geological models of typical sections are established in the same time.By using equivalent continuum seepage theory, natural seepage fields and the ones in condition of atomization are simulated successfully. Based on detailed analysis of the seepage fields, they will act as a kind of seepage load conditions in the stability calculation of IV-VI ridges. Through the stability analysis, the conclusion that IV-VI ridges under the natural condition are stable with low safety margin is concluded. IV-VI ridges possibly appear unstable in condition of atomization. This paper conclude the instability modes of various parts of IV-VI ridges. And the safety evaluation is given at last. Further analysis with drainage measures and anchor cables is given. The result shows that the drainage measures and anchor cables can effectively control the slope of the ridges. At last, some suggestions about safety measures are provided. They have some reference meaning for the project.
