In order to provide favorable foundation to deeper-water hydro-structure on the soft clay ground, the box-bucket foundation was developed. Because soft clay has obvious creep property, we have to know the settlement deformation of the box- bucket foundation in the consideration of creep and predict its final settlement. This paper carries out a numerical simulation analysis of the box-bucket breakwater's settlement on the soft clay ground using the soil engineering finite element computer program of PLAXIS 3D, uses the Soft Soil Creep 3D-Model as the constitutive model of soft clay and sums up a software calculation scheme applying to achieve multilayer soft clay's settlement. Then the paper carries out effect factor analysis with three factors, structural parameters, soil parameters and load, using this scheme.Thereafter, the scheme is used to create fit curves to the actual measurement in the box-bucket foundation breakwater pilot project in Tianjin port. Through the finite element calculation of the curves of settlement-time for the three structures in the test section, it's shown that the theoretical computation curves fit the field data curves well, and proved that this scheme can describe the box-bucket breakwater's settlement on the soft clay ground well. And then, the scheme is used in the displacement calculation of the stretch of the north breakwater in Tianjin port, and gets the final displacements and displacement law of the breakwater end and the central section in three directions, axial direction, perpendicular direction and vertical direction.At last, the paper summarizes the simplified calculation formulas of the settlement inside the bucket of box-bucket breakwater. Through the summary of numerical simulation results combined with the working characters of box-bucket foundation, the research finds the main effect factors of inside-bucket settlement and proposes a concept of interface and its simplified formulas. Then basing on the dimensional method, some simplified calculation formulas of inside-bucket settlement are obtained. Through curve comparison, the simplified calculation ones fit the finite element calculation ones well, which proves that the formulas fit the finite element calculation results well. So it can draw a conclusion that these formulas can be used to calculate the inside-bucket settlement.
