In order to guarantee the safe operation of water supply system, it is inappropriate to do massive pipe networks modeling experiment on this system. Meanwhile, the installment of test equipment also has restraint in spatial and the economical. So it is necessary to set up physical model that is equivalent to actual pipe network, and carry on the experiment not suitable in the actual pipe network on it. Therefore, the constructing on the physical model of water supply pipe network was studied mainly here.First, aimed at constructing the physical model, the pipe network simplification issue was discussed, and the pipe network was simplified with fitting algorithm. Fitting algorithm guaranteed the main inspection situation (for example pressure distribution) reflected more accurately after the pipe network simplification, and the data of some locations which are needed specially pay attention after the simplifies was highlighted.Based on liquid flow similarity theory and combined characters of pipe network, the constructing theory of pipe network model was theoretically inferred. Also, the way of constructing laboratory physical model, the problems need to be paid attention to and the limits were proposed systematically.Simplified the actual pipe network with fitting algorithm, then the Binding Requirements according to the pressure distribution were carried on, and the results were obtained. By comparison, we found fitting algorithm could reflect original pipe network pressure situation and the entire pipe network running status very well. According to the theory of constructing physical pipe network model, the simplified result of the actual pipe network and the operation status of the physical model was mimicked with EPANET software, and every physical index was analyzed and compared between the two pipe network. Similar Theory of the pipe network was confirmed.Directed under liquid flow similarity theory, and based on results of computer imitation, laboratory model of pipe network was constructed. Hydraulic tests were done on pipe section, and then the relation and the difference among pipe flows at different states were viewed. Correlations that satisfy similar conditions among pipe flow were discussed, and the reason for the difference was analyzed. The similarity relation theory was completed further.
