Since the high-tech is widely applied in the tank gun control system (GCS), the existing measurement methods have not met the requirements of the approval test for the new types of tank GCS. To fulfill the task of approval test in National Proving Rang (NPR), it is emerging to research on the general test technique of weapons and to develop the high precise test and measurement system of tank GCS performance parameters.In this paper, the GCS performance testing technology based on Fiber Optic Gyroscope(FOG) is discussed, and also we have done a series of detailed and fruitful research on the GCS and testing technical status and development review, the FOG principle and testing system configuration, the FOG angle error calculation and compensation algorithm analysis and the impact on the angle measurement precision of FOG in experimental research, all of which provides a theoretical basis and technical support for setting test accuracy of GCS and the new tank GCS testing methods.Firstly, we have analyzed the basic principle of FOG angle measurement based on Sagnac effect. Secondly, we have built a testing system based on FOG applying to the testing requirements for new GCS performance parameters, and determined the conditions, technical performance and selection of FOG.Secondly, we have connected the research of theoretical calculation and the compensation algorithm of FOG angular error, basing on the FOG angle theory, we have studied the effect on the earth's rotation to the precision of angle measurement and established a testing error compensation method by theoretical analysis and calculation. According to the research of the seat angle tilt and the gyro bias angle accuracy effecting on the precision of angle measurement, we have established the FOG angle of the mathematical model, and analyzed the orientation system, the level of operating system and the small angle measurement error, the integration time effecting on the angular accuracy.Finally, in the research of the main factors of angle measurement precision of FOG experimental. basing on theoretical analysis and calculation of the conclusions, and according to the national military standard stereotypes about GCS testing procedures, against the GCS performance parameter measurement accuracy of the main affected factors, we have carried out the main parameters testing for tank weapon system, including the GCS condition and the barrel pointing to the impact on the accuracy of angle, angle displacement and velocity measurement accuracy of the horizontal impact on the level of the implications, and the impact of GCS performance parameter measurement accuracy. validated the feasibility and effectivity of testing error compensation model.
