Nowadays spherical plain bearings are widely used in many high technology fields such as aerospace, aviation, railway vehicles and so on. With the extremly low surface energy and poor wetting ability, PTFE can not be guaranteed to have strong adhesion with other materials. For this reason, some other fibers should be knitted together to enhance its adhesive property. Lots of experimental results demonstrate that PTFE fabric woven liner with an appropriate bonding process can guarantee the bonding strength of the liner and matrix. So considering the working conditions, in this paper, peel strength and tribological property experiments of some spherical plain bearings are carried out under different bonding processes. Through a great deal of experiments, the influences of different bonding processes and the oscillating frequency on the tribological property of spherical plain bearings were investigated. Then with the help of SEM, 3D profiler and EDS, microscopic analysis were performed on the surface topography of wear surfaces of the woven liner, including the effect rule about the tribological properties of spherical plain bearings with different bonding processes and the oscillating frequency. The main researches are shown as follows:A suit of matching fixture used in the peeling tests of small size spherical plain bearings were designed and manufactured independently, this guarantees the peeling tests of the adhesive surfaces of small spherical plain bearings which are curved. The fixture has a simply structure and it is convenient to fix and replace the test samples.Through the peeling tests of liners which were adhesive to small spherical plain bearings, the effect factors on the peel strength of the samples and their disciplines were obtained and then analysed. In addition, tribological property experiments under different oscillating frequencies and different oscillating types were carried out. The laws of the factors as bonding process, liner materials and oscillating conditions affecting the coefficient of friction, wear loss and frictional temprature were discussed later. Finally, the optimal bearings were chosen respectively under different working conditions. The micro-surface topographies of wron surfaces of the woven liners were analyzed by SEM, EDS. Then the bonding process, liner materials and oscillating conditions which have influences on wear mechanism of liners were investigated. It provides a reference to improve the level of bonding process to spherical plain bearings.
