Constant velocity joint(CVJ) is one of the key components of cars, which directly related to automobile's steering drive performance, so by improving its performance and longevity, it can play an important role in increasing the whole automobile dynamics and manipulating performance. Ball-cage type CVJ is the most widely used CVJ, its raceway contact stress and its raceway section type has a great relationship, therefore, the ability of the track's design and manufacture directly affect the CVJ's ability to work performance and longevity. This paper focus on the Ball-cage type CVJ by researching on its current widely used arc type, elliptical type and double-heart arc type raceway surface pattern, the theoretical calculation of contact stress and contact stress factors, static mechanics contact stress, kinematics and dynamics, as well as the raceway structural improvements and optimization were studied.The arc raceway,elliptical raceway and double-heart arc raceway geometric model were established, the relationship between the raceway surface parameters and structural parameters were got after the raceway structural parameters and raceway equations were argument deduced, then the comparative analysis were carried out.The contact stress of the arc raceway,elliptical raceway and double-heart arc raceway were carried out by theoretical calculating of Hertz contact theory; Using the orthogonal test optimum design methodology, and take the size of the contact stress as the performance index, we choose structural parameters which has direct influence on the contact stress as independent variable to design the orthogonal test, by the range analysis for the result of the orthogonal test, we got the incidence of the major factors for the size of the contact stress, and the impact trend of the changes in the level of each factor for the size of the contact stress.The three type raceway of arc-type, double heart arc-type, and elliptical arc-type of the simplified model the ball-cage type constant velocity is established in the 3D modeling software Pro / E, and then they are imported into FEM software ANSYS,By selecting its unit type,material properties,meshing, as well as dealing with constraints and load, the finite element model was established, and then calculating its contact stress to simulate its actual working conditions, the different raceway's ANSYS numerical values were obtained, comparative analysis work for the theoretical value and the simulation value of contact stress of various raceway types were done.Dynamic simulation model for CVJ based on contact-impact was established in automatic dynamics analysis of mechanical system software ADAMS, simulation comparative analysis of ball-cage type CVJ with cross-section of three types of arc-type, double heart arc-type, and elliptical arc-type were carried out in kinematics, dynamics, as well as the transmission efficiency.Firstly proposed a new type of three-point contact raceway cross-section type structure, and its main structure parameters of inner and outer raceway were designed and calculated, and the contact stress of the combination raceway were analyzed and calculation were checked according to Hertz contact theory and FEA. The calculation results show that the three-point contact raceway can improve the internal contact condition of ball-cage type CVJ, and can effectively reduce the contact stress of the inner and outer raceway, and thus can improve the carrying capacity of CVJ products and extend their useful life.
