Strengthening Mechanisms Of Dynamic Compaction And Their Applications In Engineering

Dynamic Compaction is widely used in Soft Foundation Treatment Projectssuch as civil constructions,highways,railway embankments,airport runways andterminals to strengthen the soft foundations such as sandy soils,unsaturated clay soilsand miscellaneous fill.Dynamic Compaction has been quickly promoted and developed in our nation andother places in the world and become the most preferred method to deal withFoundation Treatment Technology Program in the field of engineering because of theadvantages of simple equipments,convenient constructions,wide applications andeasy operations. Currently, Dynamic Compaction has had quite successful effectswhen it is used in coarse-grained soils and fine-grained soils at low confining stresses,however, when it is used in fine-grained soils at higher confining stresses, most of thepractical effects are not so good. Therefore, it is very meaningful in economy andscience to study how to improve the success rate of soft foundation and widen theapplication of Dynamic Compaction.This text has explore the mechanism of strengthening foundation by DynamicCompaction and its process, and analyze the theories of Dynamic Consolidation andShock-wave Compaction which are quite influential in our nation and other places inthe world on the basis of the comprehensive analysis and summary of the domesticand foreign Strengthening Mechanism Technologies. This text believes that it isnecessary to study the Strengthen Mechanisms and corresponding Design andCalculation Methods separately, because the characters of each type of foundationsoils are quite different from that of the other types.In addition, this text analyzes and explores the design programs of DynamicCompaction, proposes the ways to choose the different Construction Parameterswith the current construction specifications and engineering practice, this DynamicCompaction has been used in some housing estate in Tianjin City and gotten thegood effect.
