Milling machine is one of the most important machines used in asphalt pavement maintains. There is obviously technology distance between the milling machine made in China and the advanced one in the world. In this paper, travel system and some correlation technology is studied. Asphalt milling machine structure, work principle perfect and imperfect is studied. Hydraulic synchronize modes of all travel system is studied, and dynamic characteristics are compared, the results indicates distributing valve synchronize mode is an ideal one used in asphalt milling machine hydraulic travel system. The turn kinematics is studied on the asphalt milling machine travel system with distributing valve, the result indicates maximum travel speed should be limited for the charge pressure drop when it is used to charge the travel motors. A travel system can be used in milling machine is designed, and main components are identified. And travel system control means is advised. A simulation model of milling machine travel system is established, simulation is done on start procedure, and load effecting on start procedure and travel speed.
