At present, driver' fault is the main cause of accidents. Among all of the drivers' quality directly impacting on traffic safety, reaction capability to traffic condition changes is one of the most important factors. Doing research on drivers' stress response would help to know the situation of drivers' reaction capability and provide technical guidance to give targeted interventions to improve drivers' performance.Based on the review of related research methods and conclusions at home and abroad, combined with the analysis of concept and factors of driver's stress response, physiological and action indexes of driver's stress response capability was established. The physiological indexes are skin conductance, heart rate and blood pressure. The action indexes are reaction time and operating accuracy. The operating accuracy is determined by operation behavior, brake strength and steering way.According to the traffic characteristics and accident forms under different road types and weather conditions, fourteen stress scenes are designed based on the principle of typicality, diversity and comprehensiveness. First,3D models of stress scenes are created in the software of MultiGen Creater. Then do visual and audio simulation through combining Newton engine with OpenSceneGraph engine.Use assessment software written by MFC to receive drivers' operating data acquired and sent by a three-screen driving simulator. After processing the operating data and calculating the indicators of reaction time and operating accuracy, the assessment results of drivers'stress response capability and improvement propose are shown on the window of assessment software. Meanwhile, the original operating data and processing results are saved to the database with the aim of further analysis research.
