With the quick development of science and technology, the speed of missiles isfaster and faster, and so Gatling gun with high firing rate is best choice to air andmissile defense. Gatling gun firing mechanism is the core part of weapons, whichbecomes a weak link in the whole life of weapon in recent years. So, the research toGatling gun firing mechanism of mechanical have the important theoretical andpractical value.The main contents and the main work in this paper: We analyse Gatling gunelectric firing mechanism, taking the M61 Gatling gun in United States as an example,based on the analysis the advantages and disadvantages for the type of striked firingmechanism and firing mechanism of firing pin spring, and proposed the type ofhammer firing mechanism. According to different energy soures of three firingmechanism, we analyse the energy required for firing for the three types of firingmechanism. We use the Pro / E software for modeling the three firing mechanisms,and analyse the fatigue life to the firing pin spring and hammer spring and hammerspring multi-strand spring. The ADAMS software is used for the three firingmechanism motion simulation analysis and the result shows that institutions have cando a continuous firing action without interference.The results show that under the same working conditions, the fatigue life ofmultiple spring as the hammer spring is 3.5 times than a single strand of spring.If weuse the hammer-type firing mechanism , the multiple hammer spring is best.
