The main issue of the subject is designing the remote control system of the propulsion which is composition of 6300 ZLCA medium-speed diesel engine producted by Zibo Diesel Engine Factory, the reduction gear box and fixed pitch propeller by the programmable logic controller (PLC) in accordance with the standard of AUT-0.This system achieves most control functions of the propulsion by Siemens S7-300 series programmable logic controller using the way of the ladder Language (LAD) combination of the Structured Control Language (SCL), including:switching the position of operations, logic control functions, the limitations and control functions of speed and load, security and emergency operation functions, telegraph communition function.The system is full use of the advantage and feature of the S7-300 PLC in the process of the system designed and it is designed distributed architecture. The system owns two PLC stations, one for communication with bridge, control room and local the other for acquisition the data of diesel engine and gearbox and logic control. The two station communicate with each othe by PROFIBUS network, and when one PLC station failures which cann't affect another working, what achieves that the control station are independent of the telegraph communication station each other. In addition, the micro-computer is used on the consoles which are in the bridge and control room to achieve human-computer interface, and the date between the computer and the PLC exchanges via PROFINET network.This paper generally consists of five parts. The first part is the design of remote control system the overall structure. Second part is studying the function which the remote control needed to achieve. The third part is designing the hardware according to the function of the remote control system achieved. Fourth part is designing the software of the remote control system. Finally, designing the communication networks of the remote control system and achieving the communicational function of PROFIBUS network, PROFINET network and Point To Point communication.
