With the improvement of the number and quality of highway,more and more attentions are fouced on the economy of the highway construction,which resultes the appearance of the thin layer mixture.The thin layer mixture is mainly for mix asphalt because of the advantages of the fast speed of the construction,comfortable driving as well as easy maintenance. Thin layer of asphalt pavement performance deficiencies exist, such as rutting, cracking. The main reason may be related to the stiffness modulus inadequate of asphalt mixture.The viscous layer of asphalt performance characteristics are analyzed, Through the comparison with ordinary mixture on splitting strength, we concluded that the viscous thin layer of asphalt can enhance the stiffness modulus of asphalt mixture.asphalt.The mixture ratio of the stone is optimized through orthogonal test. The conclsion that different aggregate gradation of stone and optimum asphalt content of the mixture can affect the Marshall stability, flow value, percent air voids of mixture and Voids in Mineral Aggregate has been gotten.A gradation range and asphalt content have been obtained.The results of high temperature stability, water stability and frost resistance of 16 viscosity graded asphalt mixture layer show that the high temperature stability of thin layer of asphalt has large dynamic stability, strong resistance to permanent deformation, low temperature and good water stability. Different mixing ratios for different pavement performance requirements of the viscous layer have been obtained. The applicability in engineering practice is verified by paving road test. The control points quality testing as well as the control methods on construction of highly viscous thin layer of asphalt mixture are proposed. The middle significant performance advantage of the viscous layer of asphalt mixture on using in the project of entity is verified.
