Reinforced concrete faced rockfill dam (CFRD, or faced rockfill dam) is one of most competitive dam in the world, the dam body mainly play a supportive role by manual or mechanical compaction from the rubble or gravel, the upstream concrete panel, toe plate and anti-seepage curtain form the dam seepage curtain system. Compared with the traditional dam,which has more advantage, such as short construction period, less investment, simple construction, adaptability, etc.,and subject wide attention by domestic and international dam industry .With the CFRD technology in deep study, in the deep cover, earthquake , adverse geological conditions in complex terrain and cold regions construction faced rockfill has become possible. At the same time , the security issues of CFRD joint sealing waterstop structure, and after the panel cracking and seepage stability of dam seepage problems, dam seepage field and Seepage stability will become more and more prominent.Therefore, in-depth study after joint seal waterstop failure concentration seepage field and the stability of seepage. evaluate the seepage characteristics and safety of the dam, for fully understand the work performance of CFRD, ensure dam safety, which could provide technical information for the future CFRD design and construction and more important theoretical value and practical significance.This paper describes the theoretical foundation of seepage analysis, introduces the finite element method analysis seepage problems's steps and formula; take the fixed grid method using ABAQUS software, the stress-pore pressure cell used in seepage field to calculate the equipotential line, seepage face, seepage velocity and the seepage volume and other key elements , resolved the complex boundary, multi-media face dam seepage problems solving , and through numerical example verified.This paper based on library xikou pumped-storage station CFRD seepage observation data, take finite element numerical calculation method to study the seepage field distribution of the joint seams waterstop failureof the CFRD, and analyzed the seam failure position, seam long, seam width of cushion material permeability influences each seepage elements variation; And calculation and analysis cushion layer for the permeability coefficient and seepage volume, determines the relationship between the optimal cushion layer for permeability coefficient. Thus demonstrates the rationality of the design scheme. This study not only demonstrates xikou pumped-storage station CFRD on the safety operation, but also gain the research results about the CFRD seepage field after seam waterstop failure , which has reference value to other similar project.
