The safety of the ship has been paid more attention to by people recently. Besides the adoption of the technological methods improving the ship's safety, a series of rules and conventions are also developed to protect the ship's safety. However, in face of the sea, the ship is still around by dangers. To avoid the danger, the most effective means is to acquire knowledge of the risks and be prepared in advance. Parametric rolling is a little-known and hidden risk in the sea. Because of the special status and purpose of the vessel "YU KUN", its security is particularly important. Therefore, the simulation and forecasting of its parametric rolling and analysis of the hazard caused by the parametric rolling become greatly necessary.Firstly, using the susceptibility criteria for parametric rolling proposed by American Bureau of Shipping (ABS), the occurrence of parametric rolling of the vessel "YU KUN" could be judged. Then, the mathematic model recommended by International Towing Tank Conference (ITTC) was employed to simulate and analyze the hazard of parametric rolling to the vessel "YU KUN". Finally, the solutions had been supplied to the officers who were facing the dangers of parametric rolling.After comparing several solution methods, the strip theory was adopted to figure out the GM-variation and the empirical calculation was used to work out the roll damping in this paper. Then the mathematic model was simulated in the Matlab environment to solve the rolling motion differential equations. The numerical solution was the prediction of occurrence and amplitude of parametric rolling for the vessel "YU KUN" under different wave conditions. The emphasis of the research was the amplitude of parametric rolling of the vessel "YU KUN" in sailing conditions.The results showed that by combining the theory and the vessel's actual situation together, the proposed method could quickly and validly forecast the occurrence and amplitude of parametric rolling of the vessel "YU KUN" and hence helped the officers to make a correct decision in navigation to protect the safety of the vessel "YU KUN"...
