With the rapid expansion of urban population, the development of Urban Mass Transit will ease the urban traffic pressure as a good manner in many big cities. Also with Urban Mass Transit maturing and accessible mileage increasing, more and more people choose Urban Mass Transit as the preferred way. With the rapid economic and social development, there is increasingly prominent contradiction between people transport needs and inadequate capacity of Urban Mass Transit. Turn-back station is a key node of rail transport capacity, the development of large capacity turn-back station is imperative to improve turn-back capacity and change operations and service levels.This thesis analyses factors affecting turn-back capacity of Urban Mass Transit station, poses the arrangement methods of turn-back station. The research gives two fundamental turn-back modes which contain front turn-back station and back turn-back station and procession of technical work in mixed station, sets up train motion model, analyses the mass train movement combined with traction calculation, and programs the computer program language by MATLAB, which is one of commercial scientific computing software. As a case, starting from JiangWan road station of TianJin metro line 7, this thesis calculates the travel time of every operation process, then gets the interval time of turn-back procession, finally computes the turn-back capacity of the station. As another example, beginning wih general mixed turn-back station, the thesis also studies the optimize mode of train turn-back procession, calculates the travel time of every operation process, gets the interval time of turn-back procession, and computes the maximum capacity of the mixed turn-back station. This mixed turn-back station provides a reference for design and construction of mixed turn-back station in the future.Based on theory and method that proposed by the above, as a example of ShenZhen metro line 1 LuoHu station, the type of the turn-back station has been optimized in this thesis, considering multiple factors of turn-back station arrangement, then it selects the best optimum arrangement of turn-back station. GuangZhou metro line 1 DongShanKou station as another example, from the wiring on the optimal design program, it finds out the largest turn-back line layout. TianJin metro line 7 NanDian tourist spot station as the last example, it makes optimization from the protection distance of turn-back line, then obtains the best way to improve turn-back capacity. According to this study, it can provide a reference for the selection of the type of the turn-back station and the layout of turn-back line.
