With the development of social economy and high speed growth of urban population, travel demands of urban citizens is grown rapidly, which usually bring more pressures for the urban public transport system. Take Beijing as an example, after a significant reduction in bus fares, the passenger flow grew rapidly. Such a huge passenger flow makes the development of urban public transport system unable to meet the travel demand in large cities. Especially in the peak hour, owing to road congestion, the buses delay very serious. The greater the travel demand, the more serious delays in bus station. The essence of this problem is the contradiction between the urban public transport systems and socio-economic and travel demand. Therefore, in order to support the demands of urban economic and travel development, public transport system should be to minimize the delays in peak time in bus stations, which can be ensured that urban public transport have sufficient supply capacity to meet growing passenger travel demand, and enhanced public transport attractive, and achieve social Low-carbon travel.All above, the main contents of this dissertation are as follows:1. Explain the definition of delay in bus station, and analysis the impact of the delay in bus station.2. Delays on the bus station influencing factors were analyzed in detail. The two main factors are determined:bus station bus capacity and the different ways of queuing in bus station. In the same time, bus station bus capacity also can be influenced by the ways of queuing in bus station.3. Bus station bus capacity can be impacted by the form and position bus stations in, bus station way to set rights of way, etc. Also the delays on bus station can be affected by them.4. After the capacity of bus station has been improved, the analysis and comparison of two common queuing modes:single queue line and fixed berths were taken into account, which can be use queuing theory to compare the two vehicles docked mode, and analysis the different transit delay, and make optimal station mode.5. Based on the above theoretical results, the bus station which located in Zhongguancun Avenue on the line are analyzed, the suggestions of improvements to reduce delay in Renmingdaxue Bus Station are proposed and Vissim is used to simulate the bus station to prove the result of decreasing delay is a reasonable and feasible strategy.
