In recent years, cities are faced with growing urban traffic congestion and deterioration of urban environment. Although urban rail transit is a rapid transportation way for large volume, the initial construction costs are high, it's unrealistic and not economical just to rely on it to solve urban traffic problems. BRT is recognized as an effective way by the international response to solve the above urban transport problems. A good connection of BRT and urban rail transit can develop both superiority and make complements for each other. Therefore, studying how to coordinate the urban rail transit and BRT is the striking point of urban bus integration. It is very important not only for the plan and design of urban public transport in theory but also for guiding the management and operating of urban public transportation in practice aspect.The main aspects which are studied of this thesis are listed as follows:(1) Studying the coordinated network plan between urban rail transit and BRT, this paper proposed the plan method of BRT network based on urban rail transit, focused on optimization method of BRT network based on transferring with urban rail transit, constructing the multi-objective optimization model.(2) Studying the coordination of urban rail transit and BRT transfer stations. By analyzing the factors that influence distances between urban rail transit stations, the paper established a model that takes the minimum total cost of urban rail transit system as objective, and obtains the rational distance between stations of urban rail transit coordinatedly transferring with BRT and conventional public transit, proposed the simulation searching algorithm to be achieved by C programming, illustrated with the actual example and analysed the result. Queuing theory is introduced to know the queuing situation at stairs and escalators and obtained the model of calculating vehicle parking position when setting stairs and escalators and designing car-park space of BRT. The plane and elevation distribution mode of transfer hub between urban rail transit and BRT is proposed on the basis of analyzing the development trend and design and connect principles of transfer hub of BRT and urban rail transit.(3) In the study of how to coordinate reciprocally the operation management between urban rail transit system and BRT, the paper did the analysis in terms of the management system, transport capacity match, scheduling coordination, fare integration and information management. The macro-model of minimizing the total transfer time of passengers is established from two angles that passengers transfer from rail transit to BRT and from BRT to rail transit. Through space-time graph, the state of the two transfer process is described, the coordinated scheduling conditions between urban rail transit and BRT is obtained and tested by actual example. In addition, by analyzing real-time scheduling of BRT, the BRT real-time scheduling model is established.(4) The paper established the evaluation index system of coordination of transfer between urban rail transit and BRT according evaluation principles, and did the comprehensive evaluation by fuzzy synthesis evaluation method.
