Impacts On Rizhao Urban Spacial Development By The Aquatic Sports Theme

The development of many metropolises all over the world verifies the importance of city theme to urban development, such as Paris'"World Fashion", Munich's "Beer City", Vienna's "World Music", etc. Large issues occurred in city always brings big changes to city construction. International activities such as Olympics, World Expo, etc can make the host city more well-known and noticed. Particular city theme is the catalyst of forming big city issues, which can improve city construction and sustainable development. As the development of sports in Rizhao and the increase of its city strength, the strategy of making "Capital for Aquatic Sports" was proposed in the report of Rizhao's 10th party congress on April 8th,2003. As the successful bidding for many domestic and international aquatic sports tournaments, and also as the successful construction of big sports programs such as International Jalor Base and Olympic Aquatic Park, aquatic sports theme is gradually growing in this young coast city and making Rizhao's special city brand.The goal of this article is with the background of Rizhao city and the lead of aquatic sports theme, to discuss the relationship between aquatic sports theme and Rizhao's space development, and also to search for the effects of sports areas and buildings which is constructed for making "Capital for Aquatic Sports" and holding large aquatic sports tournaments on urban space development. This article has positive senses to improve construction for aquatic sports in Rizhao and also social significance to improve Rizhao's urban space development. In addition, this article has important reference value to research other cities' developments which also contains sports facility construction and city theme making. By researching references and investigating on the spot, the effects and effect modes of aquatic sports theme on Rizhao's city space including city functions, city basic facilities, city public space, etc. were discussed in this article. Contrast analysis was also presented about the effects of relative city issues on city space.Aquatic sports theme has become an important method to increase Rizhao's city competition capacity, and is influencing and changing broadly Rizhao itself and its civilian's life. The development of aquatic sports theme brings along not only the development of Rizhao's sports industry, but also improvement of city space structure optimization, enrichment of city meanings, improvement of city environments, increasing steps of city basic facility construction, and enrichment of city public space forms and contents which provides more space for citizens while utilizing nature environment and sports concentrating effects.
