Regional Culture has been the hot topics in this century, not only its evaluation methods, but its design form is different from each other. In summary. How to continue the regional culture is the most important approach of the modern urban landscape, by which to show its function, construction ideology and art. All the historical city take this methods to avoid Romanesque fate.After the reform and opening up, the city development step in another direction, with these blind, speed, copy, and homogeneity phenomenon. Based on this situation, a lot of urban landscape theory was introduced into china, after 20 years melting, urban landscape field has showing a flourishing trend. And appears many advanced theories, This paper studies the urban landscape based on the typology, takes south area of Jiangsu as the example, analysis the urban landscape elements and combinations style, reasonably select the traditional city in as the sustainable cases. Through analyzing the traditional urban space with theory of typology, and the essence of practical landscape case, summed up regional sustainable way, have a certain reference and thinking on today's urban construction and also strong practical significance.There are six chapters in this thesis.Chapter 1 Introduction: Propose the background and significance of this research, and the research methods, target and the frame structure of the whole dissertation.Chapter 2: Analyze the construction elements and combination patterns of Sunan area, explores the traditional urban landscape prototype expressing, namely, Riverside space, which is the perfect combination of life-style and space form.Chapter 3: Analyze and Summarized sustainable develop direction and the sustainable design method, summarize one general meaning of sustainable design way within the scope of the general society.Chapter 4: Summing up the way of sustainable design principle in the current urban landscape, and the general principle range from nature to humanistic culture, as the reference basis for sustainable design. setting the design reference for the next phase.Chapter 5: Sum up the regional sustainable design method of regional landscape, seek the universal design approaches for the actual practice, by the analysis of urban landscape characteristics, humanistic landscape material characteristics, the psychological characteristics of urban physical memory and combination law of Sunan area from the typology perspective.Chaper6: Summary and Prospect, sum up the research results and achievements, present the author's inadequacy, and put forward the upgrading research possibility.
