A Research On Urban Public Transport System Network Optimization

The optimization of the public transportation system is the main part of the city transportation planning; moreover it is one of the most effective measures of alleviating the dense city traffic. The idea is through using the modern transportation planning theory and computation technique and properly adjusting the layout of the urban public transportation system; regroup the present public transportation optimally in order to maximize the efficiency of the system. The optimization of the public transportation system is an effective way to solve the problem of traffic jam and the trouble of getting public transport means in big cities. It can achieve quick results with small investment.To predict the demand of public transportation is the base of the optimization of the system. The theory of"trip generation"and"trip attraction"is systematically expounded on the basis of analyzing the factors in the demand of public transportation and some previous experiences. The key of the optimization of public transportation system lies in the model and method. An optimized model is raised which provides the lines of minimizing the trip time of passengers. The model is founded on in-depth analysis of the present public transportation and drawing strength from the advanced theories and methods. It puts forward some often-used optimized models and methods. What's more, it puts up the optimized model and completes the solution of it. Finally, it carried on the site optimization using the example of a public transportation line in Xi'an. Some suggestions to improve are also raised.
