The Research And Application Of Colorscapes Of Shanghai

With the globalization of economy, high density cities, which show the characteristics such as modernization, multi-function and comprehensiveness, are the products of the fast development of cities. As the development of science and technology, new materials are constantly emerging and information-sharing is more and more convenient. As a result, the city colors are becoming richness and diversity. However, the abusing of colors is inevitable. Under the orderless situation, city colors can not be united. It is clear that people should review the problem that aesthetics of urban landscapes. This paper showed the researches from the perspective of city color. Color, which is one of the important aspects of high density city landscapes and the essential carrier of the city culture, plays a unique and indispensable role in shaping of the urban landscape features, improving city image and inheriting geographic culture.After analyzing the features of high density cities, this paper presented the methods of analysis and strategies of the urban colorscapes by using the knowledge of color theory. Shanghai and other places were used for the case studies in this paper. Through the colorscapes' evaluating and practicing, a feasibility project of "Shanghai City Color" was brought out.1) Well understood properties of the issue and explored rules of the subject. Through carded and analyzed, the concept "City Color" has been optimized. This paper studied problems, which exist in Chinese city colors, misunderstandings and the difficulties of city color study.2) Going out of the mistake direction that "The War of Predominant Color of the City", this paper built a practical system to control the change of city color in Shanghai.3) The paper enriched the methods and theories of city color building and summarized the methods of analyzing regional city color, based on the several field investigations of some domestic cities.4) This research presented reasonable methods and planning countermeasures of inheriting and transforming of traditional regional colors under the modern technologies.The study provided some new ideas and means for city color planning, which may be effective ways to solve the problems of city color.
