Neutral Beam Inject(NBI) system, as a subsystem of EAST that is a large scientific facilities, is a complex and large system, which is an integrated and complex Cutting-edge technology mainly related to ultra-high vacuum, low temperature, precision machinery manufacturing, high-power power engineering, high-power diagnostic, measurement and control areas, and is an basic and effective method of the plasma core heating and non-inductive current drive of thermonuclear fusion controlled and magnetic confined. As the coordination of all of the subsystem of NBI is needed for accuracy, reliability and controllability of Neutral Beam Particles Injection for auxiliary heating, a Central Timing System which is reliable performance and long time-worked in complex environment is necessary.The paper elaborate the design method basic on QNX real-time OS of Central Timing System for Neutral Beam Injection. Communications between QNX RTOS and Windows OS are realized by using Ethernet network technologies. Friendly interactive interfaces, developed with VC++6.0, are used for configuring the timing system and real-time monitoring states of NBI. The preemptive, multitasking QNX RTOS is adopted to run real-time controlling programs on the lower-PC configured with AD-Link CPCI industrial personal computer (IPC) and CPCI-7249R digital I/O card. The IPC is responsible for timing pulse generation and output. Also a CPCI-6208, which is a Digital-to-Analogy card, is used for high-voltage power waveform control which is can be set by user. As a result of the experiments, the timing system can obtain a high accuracy of 100μs with stable and reliable capabilities, and well meets the experimental requirements of NBI.Central Timing System is designed according to the NBI system specific operational requirements of EAST. The paper, especially focusing on the hardware platform and software realization, describes the whole process of Central Timing System in detail and gives the concrete realization.
