The international standard, such as ASHRAE Standard55-2004, which beused to predict and assess the indoor thermal comfort is based on thermal neutral sensation. This standard is applicable to constant environment. As to the natural ventilation building or no air-conditioning building, these models are not predicting the human thermal responsecorrectly, which has been proved by more and more field studies. These models have not taken physiological, psychological and behavioral adaptation, which have affect on the subjective thermal sensation into account. Therefore,it is necessary to carry out the studies, which aim to the indoor thermal environment and human thermal comfort in the typical moderate area.Residental building thermal environment and thermal comfort in Kunming area were surveyed in this paper. Both the field measurement and questionnaires were adopted in this study.Using statistical methods to analyze the factors which affect human thermal comfort indoor environment and what main measures to improve the thermal environment.Through the analysis of the survey data,we got the thermal comfort and thermal sensation of the resident and determined the neutral temperature in the typical moderate area. Through the analysis of the survey data,we got the adaptive comfort model in the typical moderate area.,which could be helpful for building designers to determine the indoor set-point temperature of air-conditioning system. In addition, Based on the data in Kunming, Simulates and analyzes the thermal environment by using the hydraulic software Fluent.According to the simulated results, By comparing measured and the results of numerical simulation, Optimize the construction of the windows than walls, building orientation and window location.
