Coal is a kind of heterogeneous mineral as well as a special polymer molecule compound. After studying superfining grinding technology at home and abroad, grinding theory, mechanism of coal pyrolysis and the catalytic theory, it is proposed that superfining grinding technology can be used in the field of coal liquefaction technology research. Coal is first processed by superfining grinding, then add catalyst to it and heat it up, so as to look for the variation that how diameters of coal particles affect its pyrolysis properties and effects of superfining process and catalyst on the coal pyrolysis. In order to promote the development of coal liquefaction, the influence of coal liquefaction to the surface and pyrolysis properties of coal are summarized and the technology of reducing the reaction conditions of high temperature and pressure is explored.With the existing equipment and identified processes, experimental methods are used to study the superfining grinding process and the impact of material ratio and milling factors on superfining grinding of coal and then improve to define the optimum conditions of fine coal. Meanwhile, different effects of three kind of catalysts on surface and pyrolysis properties of coal are preliminary studied. What is more, activation energy of coal pyrolysis with the use of different catalysts is calculated by thermal analysis and optimal catalyst is found. Finally quantitative calculation is used to find the stable structure of catalyst and fracture mode of bond in the process of pyrolysis.
