In the 21st century, development the new energy vehicles is another object to most automobile manufacturers in the world, while one of most important factors influencing the new energy vehicles popularity is the power battery pack and its management system. Currently, automobile manufacturers must solve the problem such as the high battery cost, the short cycle and the safety of the battery pack connected by a series-parallel.In the article, I have analyzed and realized to improve the life of battery pack, to ensure the safety in using the battery pack and monitor the status of the battery pack real-time(including voltage, current, temperature and SOC).In view of the characteristics of the Lithium-ion battery, I have designed a protection board based the IC R5408. It can detect the single battery voltage and prevent overcharge, overdischarge in using the Lithium-ion battery, it also can test battery current and temperature signal, and prevent battery over-current, high temperature phenomenon. The management system is based on the MCU and CPLD to collect the voltage, current, and temperature of the battery pack. It uses the serial and CAN network to complete communication between management system and other system.Taking into consideration all kinds of factors that affect the battery pack SOC, and comparing other SOC estimation algorithms, I have established the SOC algorithm model based on the conservation of energy, and used different kinds of current signal to simulation in Simulink, and obtained the simulation results and analyzed its.
