With the development of science and technology, high-speed electrified railway with the characters such as high-speed, comfortable, economic, environmental protection becomes the focus of the development in China's high-speed transportation, and plays an important role in national economic development. The fault of locomotive must be detected and diagnosed in time in order to ensure the safe operation of the locomotive and prevent unnecessary losses in economic development. The contact force of pantograph-catenary detection is an important part of locomotive fault detection. The situation of current and fault can be obtained in time through analyzing the contact force.In this paper, the contact force of pantograph-catenary detecting method is adopted by analyzing the operating environment and the current collection between pantograph and catenary. Firstly, the component and the main factors causing fault of pantograph-catenary system are described in detail referenced to analyze the detection technique of the domestic and international contact force. Secondly, the overall design of measuring dynamic contact force is proposed after analyzing the static and dynamic contact force and describing the contact force measuring principle and detecting method in detail. Thirdly, motion differential equations are gained based on catenary dynamics model, pantograph dynamics model and pantograph-catenary vertical coupling dynamics. Finally, according to computer simulation, the change rule of contact force between pantograph and catenary is found, by which the pantograph-catenary data collected practically is denoised based on the wavelet transform. The standard of the pantograph-catenary contact force are obtained under locomotive high speed, thus the practicality of the design of pantograph-catenary detection is verifed.The model of the system is established depending on the pantograph-catenary dynamic system of Dalian intercity high-speed rail, whose parameters are in accordance with the practical situation. By using simulation software and analyzing the motion differential equations, the system can detect fault signal in time through detceting pantograph offline,stagger overrun and catenary hard spot, which can improve the reliability and accuracy in maximum.
