The paper is mainly concentrated on the ship track-control system. The ships maintain or change course and speed by using propeller thrust force and rudder strength. The autopilot that used for ship controls is essentially important equipment in shipping maneuvering. Its performance influences maneuverability and efficiency of ship navigation directly. And it relates to navigation safety and energy conservation closely. Many experts do a lot of researches research on this domain. Therefore the steering system is an important control system.The track control is necessary as long as longtime navigation is concerned. The article, which mainly studies the direct-track control system, is concentrated on the national planed project. Firstly, it introduces design proposals of indirect-track control system and direct-track control system briefly. Then, it analyzes main function of track layout. In view of loxodrome navigation of Mercator chart, it studies ship position calculation of satellite navigation, position and voyage calculation, track warp calculation and the selection of reference point. The paper also researches the general and analytic method about the form of track warp.The accuracy of the ship model influences track control system's precision directly. The wind, current and sea wave disturbances can produce strong influence on ship sailing. Therefore, the wind, current and sea wave disturbances are also modeled based on the foundation of the ship linear and non-linear model. Then,it carries on the simulation analysis of the sea waves disturbed force (moment). Since the ship navigation system's accuracy is closely related to the precision of track control, GPS/SINS integrated navigation system is modeled and simulated by using Kalman filter technology after each single navigation is analyzed. The simulation results indicate that the integrated navigation system decreases error vibration and improves navigation precision. It could satisfy the requirements of track control system.The direct–track control system is related to course control closely. Therefore, the paper carries on simulation analysis of the digital PID automatic course rudder based on the foundation of the Simulink simulation diagram of the direct–track control system. The simulation results indicate that the auto-adaptive PID control system has better stable state performance and control effect than the non-adaptive one. Finally, the paper carries on the modeling and simulation of the ship's direct–track control system. The simulation results indicate that the neural network track controller has excellent robustness. The course and track error are small and the tracking accuracy of the system is well.
