A Safety Study On The Designing Details Of Residential Buildings

The safety of residential buildings is the prerequisite for people to develop their businesses and enjoy their lives. The development and practice of both domestic and foreign residential buildings have proved that it is of great significance to improve the safety of residential buildings. The past research on safety of residential buildings was limited to the safety of architectural structure and exterior space, but ignored the safety of architecture itself. The safety of urban residential buildings includes many facets. Details determine success. The designing detail of residential buildings is the key factor concerning the safety of residential buildings.Safety requirement is one of the basic needs of people on residential buildings, which is the same for people living in different geographic and social backgrounds. People are faced with various potential safety hazards, including natural disaster, man-made disasters and disasters caused by improper behaviors and adverse environmental impacts. Good residential environment and safety of people's psychological behaviors together constitute the safety framework of residential buildings.This thesis conducts an investigation analysis on the details of the four basic elements of safety of residential buildings including disaster prevention, hazard prevention, behavioral safety and psychological safety. Based on the collection and research of present residential building decrees, barrier-free design regulations and safety requirement of elderly-oriented residential buildings, the author conducts fieldwork investigation on domestic and foreign residential buildings locating at different geographic and social environment. Taking the problems found in fieldwork as the clue, the thesis tries to find out the designing methods meeting the requirement of residential building safety and explore the reasonable solution suitable for safety design of Chinese residential buildings.The thesis focuses on the details of the four basic elements of residential building safety and seeks the solution of preventing potential safety hazards in residential buildings such as natural disaster, man-made disasters and disasters caused by improper behaviors and adverse environmental impacts. The main scope of the research is the safety and protection of residential environment and that of residential building itself. The creation of safe psychological atmosphere can be achieved by tackling the uneasy feelings caused by unreasonable space and height of residential buildings.Behavioral safety of people is the key point of this research, which is conducted from both satisfying various needs of different inhabitants on residential safety and structural safety details of residential buildings. The research tries to offer safety and prevention solutions on the design of residential buildings from every detail.Architecture is to serve people. Safe residence is the basic guarantee for our life and work. Good design of residential buildings is that provides safe living environment full of care and concern for the inhabitants, which should be applied to both the general design and all its details.
