With energy shortages and energy security issues becoming more prominent, wind power are being widely utilized all over the world as a renewable and clean energy source. If large-scale wind power is integrated into power grids, the uncertainty of wind energy can cause some adverse effects to the power stability and power quality of the power system, and even restricts the installed capacity of wind farm. The wind power will offset part of load which provided by traditional power sets originally. We can regard wind power as "negative load", put forward the concept of "equivalent load", which is regarded as the superimposing of wind power and practical load, and establish or adjust the generation schedule on the basis of the forecasting "equivalent load". The above is an effective method to deal with wind power. This paper proposed a method of short-term "equivalent load" forecasting affected by grid-connected wind power based on citing the conception of "equivalent load"This paper presented a new model to forecast the wind speed one hour ahead based on wavelet decomposition and RBF. On that basis, an output power forecasting model of wind farm was built by considering wake effect. A method was proposed that we can select the parameterλby genetic algorithm, and forecast the short-term load by improved model. By putting the forecasting wind power and forecasting load together, we get the forecasting "equivalent load". The paper used Matlab to provided a simulation of short-term "equivalent load" forecasting by considering grid-connected wind power by using Matlab, which can demonstrate the availability of this method.
