In resent years, fault recorder has been widely used in domestic generator and transformer substation as an important equipment of power monitoring system. Fault recording has become an important basis for analyzing system failure. Some factors such as differ from fault recorder types, data formats and communication protocol in 500kV substation now, different types of fault recorders do not have "the inter-communication" and they distributed far away from each other, which are largely restricted the fault processing speed. It's accuracy and speediness are not satisfactory. Because of the information from different system can not realize information interaction and resource sharing, the effective use and process of the fault recorder information became an "bottleneck", and also brought system maintenance difficulties. So the implementation of fault recording comprehensive analysis system in 500kV substation is necessary which can quickly and accurately upload the fault recorder information in the ground to the same platform through the remote transmission. It is significant for holding on power failure situation precisely improving the level of accident analysis and processing speed.Different fault recorder products and power transmission modes and the fault location methods are compared in this paper according to the present that there are kinds of fault recorder with different data formats and communication protocol in 500kV substation. It proposed a design and implementation for fault recording comprehensive analysis system in 500kV substation. The fault recorder information will unified uploaded to the fault recording comprehensive analysis system by using Ethernet connections, TCP / IP protocol and optical transmission. This can rule out differences of hardware and simplify the operation. Waveform analysis display waveform of lines and corresponding busbar with asynchronous factor correction. It will guarantee the calculation accuracy and prevent error diffusion fundamentally. Fault location can clear up influence of transition resistor by using the method of points from double ended. By comparing the treatment of the same two accidents by raditional accident treatment mode or the system proposed in this paper, The result show that using this system can greatly shorten the accident treatment time, improve quickness and accuracy of accident treatment.
