The Study On Landscape Of The Public Building Edge Space

The public building edge space is the transition between public building and outdoor environment. As one of "obscure space", it is the intermediary and transition of inside and outside of architectural space. It encourages mutual infiltration and integration between the public buildings and the outdoor environment, which can create continuous, dynamic and organic urban space; the landscape design impacts the art image of architecture and urban space environment.In this paper, the effect of architecture edge space on architecture was studied, the formation process of the architecture edge space, research theory, spacial types, impact factors, spatial features, functions and value of the space were analysed and summarized. Furthermore, the examples about the different types of public building space edge landscape are surveied and analysed on the aspect of plants, fountains, comedy and facilities, shops, barrier-free design, material textures and colors, and then the article point out the shortage of the landscape:simple landscape plants, small water landscape pieces and too few facilities, shops and monotonous and build the lack of color and texture changes.In conclusion, combining present situation, the landscape features of the public building were summarized from studying many examples, and some design principles and methods about public building were provided, which is a useful reference for edge space landscape design of public building.
