Centrifugal pump is a kind of hydraulic machinery used widely, along with the development of science and technology, the higher technical requirements from industry are put forward higher performance to it, such as non-overloading, non-hump, good cavitations'performance etc. As the traditional design method of centrifugal pump hydraulic, it is difficult to efficiently design the product that meets the requirements. In recent years, along with the continuous development of computational fluid dynamics, the flow simulation technology of rotating machinery is matured. It can be applied to the centrifugal pump hydraulic design. The method combining properly with CFD technology and some hydraulic design optimization methods, such as increasing flow method, non-overloading design, short blade offset etc, can quickly and efficiently design a satisfied product, and it can significantly improve the design efficiency.In this paper, the main research works include:1. Using parametric software Pro/E establish three-dimensional model of the pump, research CFD technologies and methods such as the finite volume method, the grid type, the boundary conditions etc.2. Using Computational Fluid Dynamics simulation software Fluent accomplishes three-dimensional flow simulation for the centrifugal pump. Comparing the simulation date and the experimental date, the experiment results verifies the simulation results'correctness.3. In this paper, the centrifugal pump traditional hydraulic design method and optimization method are analyzed and used, to improve the impeller of low specific speed centrifugal pump manufactured by applying the enlarged flow design method and long-short blade structure. Orthogonal experiment method is also applied for improving test scheme. According to analysis of the simulation experiment results, finally we make a choice for the optimization scheme.4. Finally, the author does simulation of impeller's performance curves that has been optimized at the eight work points on optimized scheme, gets the simulation capacity-head, capacity-efficiency diagram. Manufacturing template of impeller and test its performance, it can verify the optimize design model's rationality.
