Because of the wind and ocean current, the sea floating body always removes and rotates in disorder. As a result, the equipment on the platform can't work regularly due to the incorrect orientation. This research is aimed at the design and realization of floating body heading modulating system on the sea. In this system, the single anchor floating body can orientate in manual or automatic mode to make sure that the carried facility could work properly.According to the working environment of the body, dynamics analysis and power calculation is accomplished based on the ship model tank experiment. The floating body has an outboard engine as its side pushing device with a steering mechanism which could control the half-circle movement of the device in horizontal, be similar to the Z-propeller.The whole control system is comprised by two subsystems:the one is called Side Pushing System which is located on the floating body in order to control the movements of the outboard engine, such as turning, throttle adjustment and gear selection, as well as gather the information of the shipboard equipment working state and the heading of platform; the other is Remote Inspect and Control System which has a core device named as Multiple Serial Unit. It is used for data processing and transmitting based on wireless communication device, as well as realizing the automatic control logic based on fuzzy control theory.Manual operating and automatic heading keeping is the key function of the orientation system. The traditional control algorithm needs precise mathematic control module, but the control module of a floating body is hard to construct, so the fuzzy control is applied, which is mainly based on the operating experience. Some experiments is actualized to validate the feasibility and reliability of the system, it proves that the designed control method is practicable.
