The remnants of city wall of Jingzhou, which is the one of the most well-preserved ancient city walls in China with the great value of its particularity and representativeness, is the main part of the round-town park. How to protect and utilize the city wall remnants by constructing the round-town park is the main problem which need to be deal with in this paper.It has been paid enough attention to and already been under the responsibility of administration of protection unit. However, only implementing of maintenance is far away to meet our needs nowadays in an age of rapid advancement of urban planning. We should also protect and utilize the city wall remnants and by arranging the environment around the remnants and utilizing the methods of landscape design. First of all, cultural and historical background was analysed, the situation of the city wall remnants and its environment was investigated and researched adequately. Base on that, this paper gave suggestions on determination of boundary of the park system, the treatment of connecting different scenic areas and the utilization of landscaping elements. Which needs to be point out is that there are some historic interests and other precious landscape resources around the city wall remnants. They can provide enrich the scenery for the viewer on the wall, and the original historical style wall can be set off by them. At the same time, they can also borrow scenery from the city wall, or make it be the background. So that these scenic areas was contained in the round-town park, and be connected with each other by green ways. And then, the park can be a system. That will make for showing the city wall remnants, the historical style of it and the historical message it contains. |
