Co3O4 nanoparticles were prepared by liquid-control-precipitation (LCP) method. Dependence of particle size on reactant concentration, reaction temperature, and calcination temperature were studied. Reaction of Co(NO3)2·6H2O with NH4HCO3 was to afford the precursor of the nanoparticles, Co2(OH)2CO3. Co3O4 (ca.28 nm) was obtained through heating the precursor at 350℃for 3 h. The product was in spinel structure based on XRD patterns.Nano-Co3O4 was surface-modified with triethoxysilylmethyl N-substituted aniline (ND42) in order to improve its compatibility with organic phase. Characteristic stretching vibrations of both ND42 and Co3O4 appeared on the FT-IR spectrum of the modified particles, ND42-Co3O4.Electrochemical composition of ND42-Co3O4 and PANI was conducted at pH 12 by cyclic voltammetry (CV). The composite film ND42-Co3O4/PANI showed characteristic electrochemical behaviors of PANI in H2SO4. The FT-IR spectrum of ND42-Co3O4/PANI showed characteristic stretching vibrations of ND42, Co3O4 and PANI. Composite film exhibited good catalytic property towards electrooxidation of glucose in 1.0 mol/L NaOH. The anodic current densities for the electrooxidation were linearly dependent on the concentration of glucose from 0.01 to 0.06 mol/L (i=-8.76c-0.23, R2=0.9994).
