On the one hand, Chinese oil production corporations now consume huge energy and their energy efficiencies are to be increased. On the other hand, lots of low temperature waste heat is released by those corporations, which wastes energy sources. The sewage emitted from Daqing Oil Field, Shengli Oil Field and Liaohe Oil Field is beyond 16.0×10~4ton/h and the sewage emissions from these three oil fields accounts for 70% of the total oil fields, which shows the waste heat resource is abundant. If the waste heat resource in sewage from oil production is fully taken advantage of, the consumption of oil production can be decreased, as well as thermal pollution mitigated.Nowadays, there is scarce of mature efficient usages for those low temperature waste heat at about 40℃. Moderately high temperature heat pump is an accepted feasible technique. Under the auspices of the Science and Technology Bureau and Technical Supervision Bureau of China National Petroleum Corporation, we performed the project of"Assorted Technologies of Heat Pump Application in Oil Production". The project consists of indoor simulation experiment and engineering test.In the indoor simulation experiment, we designed the system circuit and heat source simulation system, selected system thermodynamic parameters, main devices and process units, installed and debugged the indoor system, as well as compared the effects of different refrigerants. According to the experimental data and calculated results, the empirical formulas of different performances are obtained by regression analysis for the system using R142b as working fluid with heat source temperature and heating temperature at 35℃-45℃and 60℃-85℃, respectively, and the compressor work at 2.3kW-3.7kW as well. Furthermore, the influences of parameters change are analyzed on system performances.Owing to limit in the aspects of technologies and production, nowadays China can not manufacture high power heat pump equipment used for direct industrial waste heat recovery. Besides, because of relatively low assembly performance of refrigeration parts and relatively low reliability of operation, an imported heat pump device was determined to be employed in the engineering test. The device of McQuay 700kW centrifugal heat pump, produced by Westinghouse Electric Corporation (US) and sold by Hongkong Xili Engineering Ltd., was selected and used in the engineering test. The heat pump equipment is provided with the features of advanced technology, high level of automatization and reliability of operation. The tested results show that remarkable energy savings can be gained when the heat pump device is used for recovering the low temperature waste heat from oil production. However, the inconsequence of electricity/gas price ratio in China leads to nearly the same operating costs for heat pump waste heat recovery system and heating furnace system, which restrict the prevalence of heat pump. People should pay sufficient attention to this phenomenon.
