The proportion of high-sulfur coke used in industrial production is increasing in resent years. However, high-sulfur coke with high sulfur content not only make the productive process difficultly, increasing production costs, giving strong corrosion to equipment, but also cause great harm to the environment. Therefore, currently how to reduce the sulfur content of high-sulfur petroleum coke is the main point on high-sulfur coke applied research. In this paper, using electrochemical desulfurization and adding desulfurizer desulfurization of high sulfur by calcined coke sulfur desulfurization experiment were studied. Based on above research, the main conclusions are as follows:Electrolyte concentration, petroleum coke concentration, current density, electrolysis time and materials particle size were studied in the electrolysis desulfurization process. Respectively using NaOH, Na2CO3, CaCO3, CaO as desulfurization additives, calcination temperature, desulfurization addition amount, timing and impact of particle size on the desulfurization reaction material effects were studied. The microstructure before and after the desulfurization of petroleum coke was analyzed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Moreover, quality and heat quantity changes of calcination desulfurization process in different periods of time were analyzed by thermogravimetric-differential thermal analyzer (TG-DSC).Using NaOH solution as electrolyte system, the best desulfurization rate was 42% and sulfur content reduced to 1.88%, reaching 3A grade. Using HC1 solution as acidic electrolyte system, the best desulfurization rate was 27.1% and sulfur content reduced to 2.36%, reaching 3B grade. Using the HC1 solution as an experimental system with MnSO4 added as a catalyst, the best desulfurization rate was 53.2% and sulfur content reduced to 1.52%, reaching 3A rating. In the experiments of desulfurization by using different desulfurization agent, when NaOH as desulfurization agent, desulfurization rate is preferably 56.4%and sulfur content reduced to 1.41%, reaching 2B grade. When Na2CO3 as desulfurization agent, the best desulfurization was 63.9% and sulfur content reduced to 1.17%, reaching 2B grade. When using CaCO3 as desulfurization agent, desulfurization rate is preferably 61.1% and sulfur content reduced to 1.26%, reaching 2B grade. When using CaO as desulfurization agent, desulfurization is preferably 71.5%, petroleum coke sulfur content is reduced 0.92%, reaching 2A grade.Experimental study on desulfurization of high-sulfur petroleum coke by electrochemical and high temperature calcination for further research of desulfurization and industrial production have some reference value.
