Based on the analysis both of flow field and structure shake induced by the fluid, both ofthe character of the flow and the affection of structure damage caused by the packing shakethat induced by the fluid in the vacuum packing tower. Refer to the inner structure and theoperating principle of the vacuum packing tower, the structure of both of packing and gridplate that supports the former have been simplified, we get the structure model of the vacuunpacking tower. Having chosen the mathmatical model and seted the boundary conditions, weget the flow field distribution in the vacuum packing tower. We developped the function ofdisplacement root mean square response of the structure induced by the fluid theoretically.Based on the study metal materials, we get the facters that affect the life of stress corrosionfatigue of the packing, which gives the suggestion and guidance to extend the life of packing.The research illustrates that there is little gas fluid nearby the surface of packing causedby a thin liquid film on it. There are regularly distribution of volume and velosity in thestructured packings. However ,there is no symmetrical character of that. And the entranceeffect accounts for the turbulent energy loss of gas fluid at the bottom of both grid plate andpacking.It is corrosive for the medium in the vacuum packing tower in normal temperature, andthe high temperture in the tower makes it more corrosive. Both the shake induced by the fluidin the tower and the stress on the surface of the packing lead to the stress corrosion fatigue.Therefor, cracks grow in the packing and become larger as time goes, which lead to thefatigue of the packing. Further research find that there are many facters that affect theoccurrence of the crack in the packing. And the life of packing would be lengthened byoptimizing the height of structured packing.
