| Mineral resource is the important material base of human survival and development, the use of it is also increasing year by year .Partly estimated, from 2000, the total exploitable amount of mine all over the world is above 15 billion tons per year. As a major mineral resource-exploitation and use country, ninety-five percent energy sources and eighty-five percent materials of our China come from mineral resources. With the exploitation and use of mineral resources, there come a huge number of tailings. Now the main treatment of it is to stack and landfill, which brings a serious pollution and consume of land resources. By the way, the tailing contains many valuable elements, especially the rare ones for our country. For example, the gold mine of YiNan handle 480 thousand tons of ore per year, which brings 430 thousand tons of tailings, the generation rate of tailing is 92 percent. The raw ore has a large number of metallic element and a low gold percentage without effective use. If we take multipurpose and effective utilization of the tailing, we can make a big social and economic benefit.This subject is a part of"The Technological Development of Tailing's Multipurpose Utilization"of YiNan gold mine, which our QingDao Technological University takes on for ShanDong Gold Group. The sample comes from the gold mine tailings of Jinchang, Tongjing and Jinlong mine. The purpose is to recovery the valuable elements of iron economically and effectively.We use the chemical analysis to find that the iron grade of three mines(Tongjing, J- inchang and Jinlong) is 7.80%, 6.25% and 6.99% respectively. Through exploratory testing and meticulous low intensity magnetic separation, high intensity magnetic separation, gravity separation we can find that tailing samples contain weak magnetic iron minerals mainly and strong magnetic iron minerals rarely.The separation of those three tailings has different diffcult degree, so we use combined separation and optimum conditions.In Tongjing tailing, it gains an iron concentrate and an iron midding product. The iron grade and iron recovery of them are more than 63%, 2.67%, more than 34% and 7.64% respectively. In Jinchang tailing, it gains an iron concentrate with iron grade more than 58% and iron recovery of 12.75%.The iron minerals are unavailable in Jinlong tailing. Iron concentrate can be used directly as iron-making raw material.Besid- es, iron midding product can be used as raw material for cement production or as a heavy medium in coal preparation application. This study obtains satisfactory results because it provide a method for the comprehensive utilization of tailings in this mine. At the same time, it leads to a reference meaings on reclying iron and other valuable elements in other tailings. |
