Gaoping 1 Well is the first large extended reach well located onshore of Shengli Oilfield, with a horizontal displacement of 3300m, a TMD of 4114.12m, a TVD of 929.23m, and a Max hole inclination of 89.63°, its displacement to TVD rate is 3.65∶1. The lack of on-site drilling experience led to the construction process difficult. For the construction difficulties, appropriate technical measures has been taken to achieve a safe and high quality drilling.The advanced techniques and measurestaken in the planning and drilling phases are introduced in this paper, including optimization of well structure and well path, prediction and control of torque and drag, accurate control of well trajectory, hole stabilizing and cleaning, running casing in long hold section with big inclination, application of high quality drilling fluid. The application of these technologies and measures not only avoid and decrease downhole accident but also construction work meets development require. These techniques offer significant reference for planning and drilling of extended -reach horizontal wells.
