With the increasing of miniaturization and precision of products all over the world, as one of non-contact precision manufacturing methods, micro and small for EDM technology receives much attention from both academic and industrial circles. It becomes an important part of micro machinery manufacturing, and is widely used in manufacturing industry. However, the natural characteristics of the micro and small for EDM, such as weak discharge energy, high pulse power supply frequency, unstable spark discharge states and small discharge gap, etc., which influence on the stability and accurate control of micro and small hole for EDM become the need to overcome and resolve。This paper carried out for experiment of a micro and small holes for EDM, to explore the factors which affect micro and small hole processing technology index under the existing machine control systems, to determine pulse interval and height of lifting as two processing parameters which affect the process stability, and as a variable of system to have the fuzzy control.This paper designed the two-dimensional fuzzy control system which uses statistics rate of processing state as the input, pulse interval and height of lifting parameters as the output. The system are composed of pulse interval extended module and lifting control module, achieved the decoupling of the controlled parameter which have the layer control by using different control cycle. Using Fuzzy Logic Toolbox achieved the processing of simulation for fuzzy control module, and improved the fuzzy parameters under the visualization environment (shape of membership function and scope of the domain, etc.)Using MATLAB and VC + + mixed programming realized the combination of the fuzzy control module of the EDM and the processing system of the existing machine tool. The VC implementation library realized that the improved system operated independently from the MATLAB environment, and the system of fuzzy logic operations can still be implemented by the relevant documents of the MATLAB program, improved the speed of the program runs effectively. Finally, verified the superiority of fuzzy control system of the EDM by contrast experiment,to the specific conditions to achieved the processing efficiency of 18 % of the increase, and the use of the syst em realized the diameter of 100μm, depth-dia meter ratio of 12 titanium alloy micro hole, micro array holes and helix with variable di ameter processing, showed the practicality of fuzzy control system.
