Mining metal deposit on a large scale, and improving the development and utilization of mineral resources are one of the most important tasks which the continuable developing of domestic mining industry is confronted with.Dongguashan Copper mine is a representative mine of deep mining, on the basis of the tenth-five national science and technology attacking task called the key technology research on deep copper deposit mining safely and efficiently under complex and difficult conditions, the safe and efficient mining method of large panel stope and the insulating jamb transitorily is worked out with the characteristics of sublevel excavation and filling the stope afterwards.How to mine validly the temporary panel isolation pillar will be another new task on the guarantee of safely and effectively mining for stope and pillar.Combining closely practice of Dongguashan Copper mine, the method of theoretical analysis and numerical simulation, and the digital means of mining software SURPAC, geotechnical software MIDAS/ GTS and FLAC3D are used in mining optimization investigation of panel isolation pillar in this paper. The details are as follows:(1) On the basis of comprehensive analysis for geology, ground pressure and situation of Dongguashan deposit, the mining program of back-filling method with stage stope and large holes for panel isolation pillar is putted forward, the structural parameter of the stopes and the thickness of the top column is optimized by numerical simulation.(2) Geographical models of mine are constructed in MIDAS/GTS through SURPAC transformation. The stope solid models are established and meshed by MIDAS/GTS, then the model construction of mining sequence simulation is achieved, which layes the foundation for later numberical simulation.(3) Combining closely pressure relief theory and mining conditions of mine, and the mechanical behavior characteristics of different excavation in succession are studied by numberical simulation.The mining sequence of panel isolation pillars is optimized, which provides the reference for mining decision.(4) It is proposed that ISS seismic and conventional static stress-strain monitoring system should be reinforced to monitor the variation of rock stress and strain in mining areas of isolated pillar on the basis of current application achievement of pressure monitoring and the result of numberical simulation.The program of additional conventional static points and the corresponding strategies and measures for ground pressure are putted forward.Combining closely with the mining practice of panel isolation pillar of Dongguashan Copper mine, comprehensively using the means of theoretical analysis, three-dimensional modeling and numerical analysis software, mining programs and sequence of panel pillar are deeply studied, which has relatively important theoretical sense and engineering application value.
